1983 Ibanez AM-255 Artist :: reglue top to center block.
This was just in the shop recently for finish repairs, inlay and setup. The owner decided to swap out the neck pickup when he got it back. While having the guitar gutted, he noticed that there was a large gap between the top and the center block around the neck pickup that extended to the bridge pickup.
He brought the guitar back to have the gap checked out. I used epoxy for it’s strength, open working time and gap-filling properties. The entire top was masked off to prevent any epoxy from making a mess of the finish. Also worth noting is that I plugged the pickup ring screw holes to prevent hydraulic pressure from forcing the epoxy up and onto the top.
This was a first for me. I will be pulling the pickups on all semi-hollow guitars that come across my bench to check for this in the future!
1972 Martin D-35 :: Highlander pickup install.
The bridge saddle slot floor needs to be routed with a 1/16” ball end mill to fit the Highlander iP-1 coaxial undersaddle pickup. The tail block is also thread-tapped for the end jack preamp.
2005 Fender Telecaster HH :: tighten hardware and adjust pickup heights.
1965/69 Gibson ES-125T :: non-original bridge fit / adjusted for neck set, pickup mounts improved, upper strap button internal reinforcement block fit / installed and set up.
The ES-125T is originally equipped with a single P-90. At some point the guitar was modified for dual humbuckers and a 3-way switch. The neck pickup’s rear mounting ring screws fell into the pickup rout. Maple blocks were fit to give these screws a solid mounting point. The bridge top was previously swapped for a tune-o-matic with the adjustment wheels removed in an attempt to lower the action. I refit the bridge foot and planed down the top of the foot to give more range to adjust the action. Adjustment wheels were also added. See the included links above for work-in-progress photos.
