1960-65 Kay Swing Master :: removed the wiring harness and cleaned electronics, fixed intermittent pickup grounds, remounted “Kleenex Box” pickups (mounted directly to the tone bars), repaired pickup rings, refit bridge, shimmed up the neck angle and reglued the delaminating f-hole. Tuned to open C (CGCGCE), this thing growls!
2008 Fender Jaguar :: new Mastery bridge and set up.
Michael Kelly Dragonfly 4FL TBK fretless acoustic bass :: plane fingerboard and set up.
This had a nasty fingerboard rise over the body that needed to be planed down. This amount of extensive inlay is not ideal for a fretless instrument as the wood is hygroscopic (reacts to moisture) and the pearl is not. Also the fingerboard is much softer than the pearl and wears faster. Areas of the pearl were proud of the wood and caused odd buzzes.
