Fingerboard slotting :: next run of Chubbuck Guitars.
2008 Epiphone Dot Studio WB :: headstock repair (front).
The headstock was broken cleanly off so it had to be realigned and glued. There was a significant void that needed to be filled in the face before blacking it out, scraping back the logo and then continuing with the clear coats. The original finish was matte but I opted to do a glossy repair on the face of the headstock.
Original break here.
2008 Epiphone Dot Studio WB :: headstock repair (rear).
The rear of the neck was finished at the factory with the color in the topcoat. Usually color is the base coat with top clear coats. I selectively sanded through the color layer for aesthetics while blending in the finish fills so the neck feels smooth. There is still the original finish in this area although it may appear to look like bare wood.
Original break here.
2008 Epiphone Dot Studio WB [7.5] lbs :: headstock repair.
This headstock was broken in two pieces as seen here. The face's finish was touched up and the rear filled and smoothed. Photos of the headstock repairs will be posted soon.
