PLTA
This is the guitar that inspired me to dedicate my life to creating finely crafted instruments. It borrows greatly from the guitars of master craftsman, Paul Languedoc*.
Completed in the summer of 2006, this is my personal guitar that I play almost daily.
- Bigleaf Maple top, back, sides and neck directly stained violin brown
- Handcarved ebony bridge, tailpiece, pickup rings and truss rod cover
- Ebony 25.5” scale fingerboard
- Black Walnut bindings with black / white / black purfling throughout
-Seymour Duncan Jazz [neck] and JB [bridge] humbucker pickups
-Series / split / parallel and phase switching options
-Schallar tuning machines (Ebony buttons) and strap security locks
-Completely hollow body archtop / archback construction
*I would like to thank you Paul for creating such beautiful instruments and helping me find my path.
Style One
This guitar was a wedding gift to my wife that was completed in the summer of 2006. It is an absolute joy to play - there is something very inviting about playing a parlor guitar. The intimacy of the small body produces a voice that really draws the player in.
- Dramatically colored Western Red Cedar top
- East Indian Rosewood back and sides
-Honduran Mahogany neck
-Ebony Bridge and headstock overlay
-Bois de Rose 24.9” scale fingerboard
-Ebony bindings with Bois de Rose top purfling and Bois de Rose rosette
-Doubled black / white / black purflling throughout
-Laminated slothead detail with engraved Waverly tuning machines and Ebony buttons
-Chubbuck style back bracing
OM
This guitar was completed in the late fall of 2006. It is the last guitar I built in California before I moved back east so it has a lot of mojo for me. Adirondack, or Red spruce, greatly rewards players with patience, as this guitar has greatly “opened up” over the past few years. Many of the pre-War Martins have Adirondack Spruce soundboards, which over time has greatly contributed to that responsive tone that everyone is looking for.
- Adirondack (Red) Spruce top
- Flamed Claro Walnut back and sides
-Honduran Mahogany neck
-Macassar Ebony Bridge and headstock overlay
-Macassar Ebony 24.75” scale fingerboard
-Flamed Claro Walnut bindings and rosette with black / white / black purfling throughout
-Chubbuck style back bracing
Bottleneck
This guitar features a Florentine cutaway and borrows its body shape from a 1930’s National Trojan. The cone support is designed without the use of a soundwell or post system. This design coupled with the Indian Rosewood (non-laminated) body wood produces a very open and warm tone that is very different from most spider - bridged guitars. Simply an extraordinary bottleneck guitar, completed in the late fall of 2005.
- East Indian top, back and sides
- Dobro spider-style bridge with a spun Quarterman cone
-Honduran Mahogany neck
-Ebony 25” scale fingerboard
-Black Walnut bindings and black / white / black purfling throughout
